Deliberation It is a presumptio n of law that all acts committed are done with due deliberation; that the party intended to do what was done. It is illegal to remove yourself from a violent situation, and then return after the threat either no longer exists or has deescalated, and then apply or threaten to apply lethal force. The Shopkeeper's Rule The "Shopkeeper's Rule" refers to pursuing a perpetrator after a crime has been committed where the perpetrator has fled the scene and the threat is no longer present. Pursuing the perpetrator with the intent of applying lethal force is illegal, and you will be responsible for your ac tions as well as the perpetrator's actions. Contribution and Facilitation Conduct by you that contributes to the escalation of a situation in which someone else would feel that they may need to apply lethal force upon you. (ex. "Road rage") You forfeit your victim status and become the person committing the crime. Vigilantism Carrying a concealed firearm does not give you any legal power. Contribution and facilitation applies here. Attempting to enforce the law while armed, and then using your firearm and subsequently claiming self-defense will likely result in a murder conviction. Carrying a firearm does not make you a police officer, so minding your own business is your best course of action. For it to be legal to discharge your firearm, one must be at great risk of imminent death, great bodily harm or rape (primary defense) or the same must be true of another person or persons (secondary defense) and the cause must not be due your behavior that would contribute to and facilitate the encoun ter. De-escalation ALWAVS - Agree and apologize ALWAYS-Stay calm ALWAYS - Mind your own business, except when a person is in danger NEVER - Honk at a motorist NEVER - Get Emotional, Prideful, Angry NEVER - Say that you have a firearm, except if stopped by law enforcement
